Charleston Surge

 

Charleston Surge is Charleston's "Community" Dragon Boat team, open to all folks that want to exercise with a group on the water and have FUN! Once you try this sport, there's no going back!  We are part of "Dragon Boat Charleston".

Parking info!

1. Everyone must park at Brittlebank Park, (NOT TOUCHING THE GRASS) the only exception to this is if you are coming from work and need to change clothes - then park at the Bristol Marina in the spaces as close to Lockwood Drive as possible - BUT WITH THE COLLEGE AND MAGNET SCHOOL ROWING PRACTICES GOING ON AT THE SAME TIME, there will only be a few spaces - so change clothes at work if at all possible. 
2. everyone must meet & stretch at Brittlebank Park (NOT ON THE DOCK) - when you come down the docks, you will immediately load the boats.
3. MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION - WE ARE GUESTS AT THE BRISTOL MARINA, THEY ARE OUR GREATEST BENEFACTOR AND WE MUST RESPECT THEIR GENEROSITY.  That means not taking up parking spaces or blocking the dock and saying thank you to everyone we see down there.
   
   note - As the Riverdogs' season starts in April, they charge for parking at Brittlebank - this does not apply to us.  We park at the opposite end from the Ballpark -

Information for our new paddlers:

Sign up for practices on this site (link on the left).  New paddlers, PLEASE sign up for SATURDAY ONLY for your first practice.  We'll have special efforts that day to take care of you.

Life jackets are required for every paddler in the boat every time the boat leaves the dock. If you would like to buy your own please buy red!

All practices are at the Bristol Marina.

The Bristol Marina does have bathroom facilities -
FYI - you will get wet from the paddles splashing, so dressing in quick dry clothes is best. We recommend paddling or sailing gloves.
